Performance
The CT 200h has been designed to reflect the growing demand for cars that are smaller and more fuel and CO2 efficient. Powered by a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine and a powerful electric motor, the CT 200h delivers:-
- Nought to 62mph acceleration in 10.3 seconds
- Combined cycle fuel consumption 68.9mpg (combined)*
- CO2 emissions are a class-leading 94g/km*
- Capable of an impressive 134bhp
Drivers can drive according to their ‘mood’ - Relaxing or Dynamic - with a choice of four drive modes:-
- ECO
- NORMAL
- SPORT
- EV (electric vehicle for ultra quiet running on the electric motor alone resulting in zero fuel consumption, CO2 and NOX particulate emissions, in this model the car can run up to 1.2 miles at speeds up to 28mph
EV mode will be selected automatically from start-up and at speeds less than 28mph but the driver can also select EV mode manually although once it has reached its range under electric power or exceeds 28mph, it automatically switches to the petrol engine.
Select ECO mode and throttle response to accelerator pedal input is reduced and the air conditioning control is adjusted to maximise fuel economy encouraging a much more relaxed driving style dependent on driving conditions.
For a more dynamic driving style, select SPORT mode whereby extra electric motor power is delivered with the supply voltage boosted by 150V to a maximum 650V. Engine revs are held longer and the throttle and electric power steering (EPS) settings are adjusted for quicker response and extra feedback.
A combination to design and technological advances enables the CT 200h delivers high speed stability, smooth and precise handling including:-
Vehicle dynamics - Built on a new platform with the lowest possible centre of gravity combined with a high-rigidity lightweight bodyshell, the CT200h has been designed to deliver superior handling, a rewarding and responsive drive as well as excellent ride comfort and refinement.
Suspension - The CT 200h has a bespoke suspension design, comprising an L-arm MacPherson strut front system and a new, independent double wishbone and trailing arm set-up at the rear.
Steering - The lightweight, energy-saving Electric Power Steering is powered by the hybrid battery and contributes to overall fuel economy by only consuming power when steering force assistance is required.
Aerodynamics – The impressive coefficient drag (Cd) of 0.29 also boosts fuel efficiency and reduces wind noise.
The sporty character of the CT 200h is undeniable. Lexus designers have strived to perfect the ideal driving position by calculating seat design and location, steering wheel position and even the angle of the pedals. The result is the sportiest driving position of any mainstream Lexus production vehicle, much in line with that of the high performance IS F. And like that of the IS F, the CT200h’s seats have extra lateral and lumbar support built-in to hold the driver firmly and comfortably in place as he or she makes the most of the car’s dynamic performance.
